A contemporary approach to the Book of Changes
The Courage to Meet Change
Reflections on the 64 Hexagrams of the I Ching
A clear and accessible guide to the ancient wisdom of the I Ching, written for modern readers who want insight they can actually use. It offers contemporary reflections on all 64 hexagrams and their changing lines while preserving their depth, ambiguity and psychological richness.
Rather than offering fixed predictions, it invites reflection. Each hexagram becomes a mirror for understanding your situation more clearly, helping you see what is emerging, what is changing, and what is asking for your attention.
The earliest layers of the I Ching reach back more than three thousand years. Across that long history, readers have turned to it for decision making, self inquiry and orientation in times of uncertainty. This book continues that conversation in a form designed for today’s world: simple, direct and grounded in lived experience.
Whether you are new to the I Ching or returning to it after years of study, The Courage to Meet Change offers a steady guide for moments of doubt, transition and choice. It can be read on its own or used to deepen a conversation with a translation you already trust.
Available in Kindle, paperback and hardcover.

Written by a student who keeps returning to the work.
Tiffany Pegoda is the creator of Cultivating Courage and a lifelong student whose values have always been rooted in sustainability. For her, that means more than caring for the natural world. It also means respecting limits, using energy wisely and choosing what can be maintained without force.
When Tiffany was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 40, those questions became deeply personal. Living with an unpredictable illness changed her relationship with energy, uncertainty and the meaning of courage. Her continuing study of the I Ching has helped her recognize that courage is not always pushing forward. Sometimes it is listening, adapting, waiting and meeting the life that is actually here.
She writes not as an authority with final answers, but as a fellow student whose understanding has grown through reading, contemplation and daily practice. These reflections matured through a complete public video series on all 64 hexagrams and through her ongoing daily and weekly readings. The Courage to Meet Change shares what she has learned so far while leaving room for every reader to continue the conversation.
